Factory explosion at Birch Vale reservoir

Birch Vale is now clear to fish. All the debris has been removed but keep an eye out for any glass or asbestos which may have been missed. DO NOT HANDLE THE ASBESTOS BUT REPORT ITS PRESENCE IF DETECTED TO THE DERBYSHIRE COUNCIL.
fire birch vale

Just a quick one ... has anyone made enquiries regarding possible pollution of birch vale reservoir and the river sett , I know a boom was put out around the inlet on the res and there was little water put on the fire due to pollution run off .The EA were in attendance but the two women were there in the dark so i dont know what they were expecting to see . (i am a firefighter there all night the first night of the fire) the building and yard was full of chemicals so i would be asking a few questions and there was also airborne asbestos and glass along with toxic smoke which went over the res .

bowdon hall work party

Don't know if this is the right way to do this but here goes.

i was wondering if anyone fancies another work party at Bowdon hall?
the far side is very muddy due to the drainage from the field and requires digging and a pathway making so you can walk around the pond.
i think now would be the best time to do this before the raining season starts.
going of messages on here i was thinking maybe a Tuesday afternoon around 17:30 - 18:00 ish
i estimate 2 hours work before we run out of light but if enough turn up that's all we will need.
please note this is just an idea at the moment to see who is interested.
i will ask the committee and get cards stamped for those who attend.

that's it for now, please post your thoughts

john

Can I fish Bowden Hall yet?

Hi all. I've put a couple of replies on other posts to this tune, but nobody has yet answered them, so I'll try with a fresh post. Basically, when can members who haven't attended a work party fish Bowden Hall? I've not been to a work party purely because of my job on the railway, which means I work some strange hours including Saturdays and Sundays. I AM WILLING (and keen) to attend a work party, and I have asked on this forum if there are any more planned, but nobody seems to know. I feel at the moment that I'm being done out of fishing a water controlled by my club, to whom I pay the same subscriptions as anybody else, through no fault of my own. Even if there are no more work parties planned, is there anything I can do on my own, or with just one or two other members, this would be fine. I'm sure other members are chomping at the bit as well, so if anybody can enlighten me, please do.
Many thanks.
Monyash

Hi. I'm new to the club this year, so don't know the waters very well. I've fished quite a few now though and am planning a trip to Monyash soon. I've spoke to a few members who've fished it before, but years ago. So, has anyone fished it more recently, and have you any advice for me? I've rigged up my rake to dredge the swim, and I'm prepared to get there early, get some hemp and corn down, fish worm/caster/corn etc on the hook, so am I along the right lines? Are there any particularly good pegs or methods? All advice will be welcome and I'll post my results on here if people are interested. Many thanks, Paul (bobthetrain)
