Hi,
I've fished the top water once, however it was one of the hottest days so far and unfortunately I did not catch. I work down the road from these ponds and have been going up on lunchtimes, and there seems to be some good fish in both.
The top pond has a large shoal of big bream, maybe round 4lb that can be seen cruising round on warm days, and a few carp that I've seen at the top end on the field side. Also shoal of small fry are around which is a good sign the fish are breeding, and I have been informed that there is some very large pike. I spoke to a few locals about this one, excentric locals but locals none the less, and apparently there was a problem with Cormorans a few years ago and the silver fish stocks suffered dramatically.
As yet I haven't fished the bottom pond, but I'm going to try and get on it for a few evenings over the next few weeks. Walking round the pond, on the path side again I've seen lots of bream around the 2lb mark, a few commons and one mirror carp. This pond does seem to have a lot more small fish activity, and I'm informed that slider float works a lot better than pole due to how clear the water can be on some days. On hot days it is true that a lot of kids go down there and swim off the wall side, quite a bit of litter gets left but as far as I've seen it only seems to be on very hot days.
I'm certainly told by everyone I speak to that neither water is easy, but with a bit of time hopefully some methods might prove to work. I'm going to try pre-baiting the top pond and fish the feeder on it to see if i can tempt the bream into feeding, and any more info I can gather I'll post up on the forum. Both waters have potential, but the top water has the size and potential to be excellent, but may need some good silver fish stocking to do so.
Hope this is helpful,
Rick.
