Reply with quote | #2 | i fished the dam the other Saturday and sure enough the bivvy's were up and bait boat out, however they were not causing a problem in fact i think the fished moved my way as i did OK were others struggled. as i understand it there are NO DNMAC waters that allow bait boats, the only exception is disabled anglers. personally i would be more concerned about the amount of bait going in by any means!

Reply with quote | #3 | I know who you mean & the attitude is that because one saved all his pocket money up for the bait boat he should be able to fish the far bank as he is unable to walk round [& travels from Denton/Audenshaw] Whilst I supported his claim to be able to use a baitboat, I have told him that if I wish to fish the opposite bank, then he had better move his swim, to which I have discussed with him on a number of occasions.
As a club member, you are a bailiff & have every right to request a move of swim. If they don't comply, then report them at a club meeting.
A couple of Fridays ago I wanted to fish the first peg to the right of the island. When I got there an angler was sat on the 2nd peg but fishing the 1st peg and hadn't had a fish since early doors. What a numpty __________________ WANTED

Reply with quote | #5 | There have been several reports on baitboats and these have been passed onto the secretary. If the baitboat enters your swim then that is obviously a serious matter requiring discussion at the next monthly meeting.I suggest that anyone who has witnessed this activity on Disley Dam or any other of our waters come to the September meeting held on the third Thursday in the month. |

I havent got much of a problem with the boats, if u cant cast u cant cast. Its the going into and across other swims like fluffchucker said, thats what i am more concerned about. I have been on a few times and spoke to a few members who end up leaving because of it. I thought the rules clearly stated this fact |

Reply with quote | #7 | As a relatively new member to the club I have only fished Disley Dam on a couple of occasions. The first was on a Sunday afternoon when everyone bar Lord Lucan seemed to have turned up and virtually every peg was full.
I must admit that when the water is that busy it did cross my mind what would happen if you hit into a big fish and it ran across three or four other swims, I had a vision of bite alarms sounding off all around you and a small lynch mob forming in the background. I found the whole thing a little bit inhibiting and my future visits have been in the week which is a lot quieter.
Such is the price of a popular water I suppose, the problem is in my opinion that everybody knows where they should be fishing, but that isn't always where they think the fish are. It doesn't matter if it's long casts or bait boats the issue is that you should fish within the parameters of your swim and if you're putting baits into someone else's then I think in most cases you know you're out of order.
However most of us are too polite (or don't want the hassle in our precious free time) to say anything about it.
I do think these are the sort of things that need to be sorted before they escalate and this is a good forum for people to air their views in relative anonimity, besides you don't want any periscopes appearing behind the bait boat, they are expensive you know!

Reply with quote | #8 | If my memory serves me correct, It DOES state in the membership card, that anglers SHOULD ONLY FISH to an imaginary half way mark between swims. If someone is in your swim, then politely ask them to move. If you have no wish for a confrontation, you can always ask to see their membership card, make a note of their name & report them at the monthly meeting __________________ WANTED
